Zia has unmatched and globally recognized PR and advertising expertise with more than 30 years of experience working for major international corporations in the fields of pharmaceuticals, textiles and agrochemicals, energy, telecommunication, information technology, industrial solutions, exports, manufacturing, services, household appliances, mobiles, and healthcare.

His last assignment was as Director Corporate Communication and Government Affairs at Siemens Pakistan, where he was also, for a time, the Head of Communications for Siemens Cluster Middle East. He served on the IPRA (International Public Relations Association) international jury for a number of years. He has also served on the juries for the Pakistan Advertising Association and the All Pakistan Newspapers' Society (APNS) for their advertising awards.

Zia is also a well-known columnist contributing to leading publications in the country both in English and Urdu.
